Nick Murphy (FKA Chet Faker) drop new single “Stop Me, Stop You”
Nick Murphy (formerly Chet Faker) has dropped a new single of his forthcoming album titled “Stop Me, Stop You” and its an 8 minute epic.
Speaking with Triple J he talked a little bit about the album stating that its “basically done” and that hes working on the last 10 percent of the album “which is always the hardest”
For the album, Murphy has been working with Dave Harrington who has also been tracking the drums for the album, orginally wanting to work with Rick Rubin; Murphy chose to go with Harrington to give himself the ability to record the album in his own New York apartment. He unfortunately doesnt have a release date for the album yet.
As for the song he talks about it being “an amalgamation of a bunch of different songs that were floating around”
“I was trying to cut it down but I just couldn’t,” Murphy says about the track. “The second half of the song is sort of talking to the first half and the first half is setting up the second half.”
Its only been two years since the release of his debut album Built On Glass which was hugely popular in Australia placing three songs in the triple J’s hottest 100 with the track Talk Is Cheap grabbing the number 1 spot, so its fair to say we’re pretty damn excited to hear his next full album.
